The noun comes first, then a relative pronoun (that, who, which), then the clause. Mandarin does the exact opposite. The whole modifying clause is loaded in FRONT of the noun and pinned to it with 的, the same particle that marks 我的书. There is no relative pronoun at all - no word for 'that' or 'who' - because 的 does the entire job of joining clause to noun. This front-loading is the single hardest word-order flip for English speakers, because it forces you to hold a long modifier in mind before you ever reach the thing it describes.
