这么 (zhè me) means so, this much, or like this. It is the proximal degree adverb, pointing to the present situation or speaker's vantage. It precedes adjectives (这么好, this good; 这么快, this fast) and verbs (这么做, do it like this). Its distal counterpart is 那么 (nà me, that much/like that). In exclamations 这么...! expresses surprise or admiration (这么漂亮！, so beautiful!). Both 这么 and 那么 are extremely frequent in colloquial Mandarin.
