By using Kilo Lingo you agree to the following terms.

1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Kilo Lingo. By accessing or using the Site you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Use of the Site

You may use the Site for your personal, non-commercial education only. You must not:

• Copy, reproduce, or republish content from the Site without our prior written permission
• Use automated tools (crawlers, scrapers, bots) to harvest content in bulk
• Use the Site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site

3. Intellectual Property

All editorial content on the Site (articles, calculators, code, original images) is owned by or licensed to Kilo Lingo and is protected by UK and international copyright law. You may share links and quote brief excerpts with clear attribution and a link back to the original.

Translations of common phrases, public-domain texts, and standard reference material (CEFR descriptors, FSI categories) are not claimed as proprietary; the editorial commentary and the page structure are.

4. Educational Content Disclaimer

Content on this Site is published for educational purposes only. It is a self-directed learning resource, not formal language tuition. For certification (DELE, DELF, HSK, etc.) use the official testing bodies. For one-to-one teaching use a qualified teacher.

Translations and pronunciation guides are provided in good faith and reflect typical usage. Regional variation, register, and context change what is appropriate; the editorial notes on each page flag where this matters.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kilo Lingo and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Site or reliance on any content here.

6. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. These are provided for convenience only. We have no control over linked sites and accept no responsibility for them.

7. Affiliate Links

Some links on the Site are affiliate or referral links (to language courses, tutoring marketplaces, app subscriptions, books, or travel services). If you click an affiliate link and subsequently sign up for or purchase the linked product or service, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links help fund the editorial content here. They do not influence which products we cover or what we say about them.

8. Emails

We do not run a mailing list you can join without an account. If you have one, we send you emails about the account itself, including a short onboarding sequence during your free trial and a note before the trial ends. We also offer learning emails, words and a daily grammar tip, which are off until you switch them on.

You can change or stop any of it at any time in your email settings. Our Privacy Policy explains what we store and on what legal basis.

9. Accounts, Free Trial and Kilo Lingo Plus

Creating an account starts a 7-day free trial of Kilo Lingo Plus. We do not ask for card details to begin the trial, there is nothing to cancel if you do nothing, and no charge is made when it ends.

After the trial, Kilo Lingo Plus costs $5 per month, billed in advance and renewing automatically until you cancel. Payments are taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars and any taxes are shown at checkout.

If you do not subscribe, your account is not deleted and your progress is not lost. It becomes read-only: you can still see every word, lesson, story and streak you have recorded, but new progress is no longer saved, and the printable downloads and the daily review are paused until you subscribe.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account area, which opens the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep full access until then.

Refunds. We do not offer refunds, including for part-months after a cancellation, except in exceptional circumstances. The free week exists precisely so you can decide before paying anything. If you think your situation is exceptional, or you have any other query or concern about billing, write to hello@kilolingo.com and a human will read it and reply.

Price changes. If we change the price of Kilo Lingo Plus we will tell existing subscribers by email before it takes effect, and you are free to cancel before it does.

10. Availability

We aim to keep the Site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
