Spanish 路 Chapter 10 路 Lesson 9 路 Phrase session

Granted, but...

Admit the other side has a point, then take it apart politely.

Why these go together

Concession is what makes an argument sound fair: you grant a point, then turn it with a contrast. These sentences pair 'es cierto que' and 'aunque' with 'sin embargo' and 'no obstante'.

It's true that technology helps us; however, it also isolates us.

I agree up to a point, but not entirely.

  • Aunque tenga raz贸n en parte, exagera mucho.

Even if he's partly right, he exaggerates a lot.

Nevertheless, we have to take the other side into account.

You have to admit it's a good argument, but it doesn't convince me.

Even though the plan is expensive, it's worth it.

I disagree with the idea that things were always better in the past.

While it's true that there are risks, the advantages are greater.

I admit I was wrong about one detail, but on the essentials I still think the same.
