Proposals, recommendations and polite demands, with the subjunctive in tow.
Why these go together
Recommending, proposing and asking for change all put the next verb in the subjunctive. These are the sentences for the 'what should we do about it' paragraph.
El grupo propone que el ayuntamiento abra más centros juveniles.
The group proposes that the council opens more youth centres.
Los expertos piden que los padres hablen más con sus hijos.
The experts are asking parents to talk more with their children.
Quisiera sugerir que cada colegio tenga un plan contra el acoso.
I'd like to suggest that each school has a plan against bullying.
Les pido a los políticos que escuchen a los jóvenes.
I ask politicians to listen to young people.
Sería mejor que gastaran más en el transporte público.
It would be better if they spent more on public transport.
Mi propuesta es sencilla: más dinero para la educación.
My proposal is simple: more money for education.
Hay que impedir que la situación empeore.
We have to prevent the situation from getting worse.
Les aconsejo que no pierdan la esperanza.
I advise them not to lose hope.
