Spanish 路 Chapter 6 路 Lesson 8 路 Phrase session

I'm not so sure

Doubt takes the subjunctive. Certainty does not. Choose wisely.

Why these go together

Doubting, denying and not believing all trigger the subjunctive, and 'quiz谩' can too. These sentences give you the ways to sound sceptical without sounding rude.

  • Dudo que el problema se solucione pronto.

I doubt the problem will be solved soon.

I don't think it's as simple as they say.

  • Quiz谩 tengan raz贸n, pero me cuesta creerlo.

Perhaps they're right, but I find it hard to believe.

It's possible that the data aren't correct.

I'm not sure that's the best solution.

I suspect there's something they haven't told us.

The situation may well get worse before it gets better.

It seems impossible to me that the system could be fair to everyone.

I have my doubts about whether this measure is effective.
