Russian · Chapter 17 · Lesson 3 · Phrase session
Weather and the planet
Rain, snow, clean air, and what you're doing about it.
Why these go together
Weather in Russian is mostly impersonal: холодно, пасмурно, идёт дождь. Add a few environment sentences and you can talk about the sky and the planet.

Зимой часто идёт снег.
It often snows in winter.
Осенью часто пасмурно.
In autumn it's often overcast.
Летом солнечно и тепло.
In summer it's sunny and warm.
В деревне воздух чистый.
The air is clean in the country.
Переработка очень важна для планеты.
Recycling really matters for the planet.
Это экологическая проблема.
It's an environmental problem.
Лучше ехать на велосипеде, а не на машине.
