Greek
Word origin
From Latin Graecus, the Romans' name for the Greeks, itself from Greek Graikos, an old tribal name. The Greeks' own name for themselves, Hellenes, never displaced the Latin label in most of Europe.

He is reading a book about ancient Greek art.
The adjective builds the rest of the family the regular way: greko a Greek person, o or Grekio the country, the language. Esperanto treats the adjective as the root here, which is why the country is derived from the people rather than the other way round.
