Translation
suit (of clothes); costume
Word origin
From French costume, borrowed from Italian costume, which meant custom or usage and comes from Latin consuetudo. Painters used it for the dress proper to a period or a place, the customary clothing, and the theatre took the sense from them.

Examples
.
He wore a black suit to the party.
.
The actor changed his costume after the first part.
.
Her suit was blue and very beautiful.
Two senses, and they are genuinely different things rather than two words for one. A is the matching set you wear to an office or a wedding, jako and pantalono cut from the same cloth; it is also what an actor puts on to become somebody else. Context settles it every time, and if you need to be plain, bankostumo is a swimming costume and teatra closes the other door. For clothing in general, reach for vesto.
