Translation
crown
Word origin
From Latin corona ('wreath, garland'), borrowed in turn from Greek korone. The first crowns were circles of leaves handed to winners, and the metal came later.

Examples
.
The king wore a crown of gold.
.
The crown fell from his head.
.
The young prince received the crown from his father.
The object, and by extension the office: works in Esperanto much as it does in English. Kroni is to crown someone, and it carries the same figurative sense of a finishing touch, so a good ending kronas the story.
