covers both the money left over after costs and the plainer idea of benefit, so it is broader than its English cousin and you will meet it well outside commerce. The verb profiti means to gain or to take advantage, usually with for the source: profiti . Add -- for i, to make something profitable to somebody, and senprofita for a non-profit body. It sits close to , which is winning or earning the thing itself, whereas is the surplus you are left holding afterwards.
