This is with the augmentative -- bolted on, and it is the cheapest vocabulary in the language: one suffix turns warm into scorching, big into enormous, good into superb. Its opposite is not a reversed in the middle but with the same suffix, a, meaning freezing. The diminutive -- runs the other way to give a for lukewarm. Three words for the whole temperature scale, and you only had to learn one root.
