Plural nis neuter en

Prescribed by the AQA specification.

The short version

Every -nis noun doubles its s in the plural

Ergebnis, Kenntnis and Geheimnis all end in -nis, and all of them add -se, not -en, no matter whether the noun is neuter or feminine. The doubled s is the giveaway: Kenntnisse has a sharp, voiceless s, where the wrong Kenntnisen would have a single s voiced like a z.

die Ergebnisse, die Kenntnisse

the results, the knowledge/skills

A few neuter nouns plural like feminine ones

Auge, Ohr, Bett, Hemd, Interesse and Ende are all neuter in the singular but add -(e)n in the plural, the ending you would expect from a feminine noun instead. There is no shortcut here: learn this short list by heart rather than trying to derive it from the gender.

die Augen, die Betten

the eyes, the beds

That's the gist. The full article goes deeper - more examples, the edge cases, the why - and the practice below scores like a vocabulary session and earns the same XP.
