German · Chapter 7 · Lesson 17 · Grammar primer
Letzter naechster wenig
Prescribed by the AQA specification.
The short version
Last year and next week need no preposition in German
letztes Jahr and nächste Woche stand on their own as bare accusative time phrases, exactly like their English equivalents. Resist the urge to add in, an or im just because most other German time expressions need one.
Nächste Woche fahre ich nach Berlin.
wenig and wenige split like English little and few
wenig stays unchanged before an uncountable noun; wenige takes an ending before a countable plural one. If you would say little in English, reach for wenig; if you would say few, reach for wenige.
Ich habe wenig Zeit, aber wenige Freunde hier.
That's the gist. The full article goes deeper - more examples, the edge cases, the why - and the practice below scores like a vocabulary session and earns the same XP.
