Story

那nà个ge早zǎo上shàng，周zhōu明míng突tū然rán想xiǎng起qǐ一yī件jiàn事shì。很hěn多duō年nián以yǐ前qián，他tā的de朋péng友yǒu美měi玲líng生shēng病bìng了liǎo。那nà时shí周zhōu明míng答dā应ying她tā，一yí定dìng去qù看kàn她tā。

That morning, Zhou Ming suddenly remembered something. Many years ago, his friend Mei Ling had fallen ill. At the time, Zhou Ming had promised her that he would certainly come and see her.

可kě是shì后hòu来lái，他tā的de工gōng作zuò太tài忙máng了liǎo。一yì直zhí没méi有yǒu时shí间jiān。这zhè一yī等děng，就jiù是shì很hěn多duō年nián了liǎo。周zhōu明míng还hái记jì得de那nà个ge约yuē定dìng，心xīn里lǐ觉jué得de，他tā应yīng该gāi去qù。

But later, his work got too busy. He never had the time. This waiting went on for many years. Zhou Ming still remembered that promise, and in his heart he felt that he ought to go.

他tā马mǎ上shàng拿ná出chū手shǒu机jī，给gěi美měi玲líng打dǎ电diàn话huà。听tīng到dào美měi玲líng的de声shēng音yīn，周zhōu明míng心xīn里lǐ很hěn高gāo兴xìng。「我wǒ来lái看kàn你nǐ，好hǎo吗ma？」美měi玲líng说shuō：「当dāng然rán好hǎo！」

He took out his phone at once and rang Mei Ling. Hearing her voice, Zhou Ming felt very happy. "May I come and see you?" Mei Ling said: "Of course you may!"

周zhōu明míng坐zuò火huǒ车chē，到dào了liǎo那nà个ge城chéng市shì。这zhè里lǐ变biàn了liǎo很hěn多duō，街jiē上shàng的de人rén也yě多duō了liǎo。可kě是shì周zhōu明míng慢màn慢màn走zǒu，还hái是shì找zhǎo到dào了liǎo那nà条tiáo路lù，那nà个ge老lǎo房fáng子zi。

Zhou Ming took the train and arrived in that city. It had changed a great deal, and there were more people in the streets too. But Zhou Ming walked slowly, and still he found that road, that old house.

他tā在zài门mén外wài看kàn见jiàn美měi玲líng。她tā老lǎo了liǎo一yì些xiē。美měi玲líng开kāi门mén，看kàn到dào周zhōu明míng，眼yǎn睛jīng里lǐ都dōu是shì水shuǐ。「快kuài进jìn来lái，进jìn来lái喝hē茶chá。」

At the doorway he saw Mei Ling. She had aged a little. Mei Ling opened the door, and when she saw Zhou Ming, her eyes filled with tears. "Come in, quick, come in and have some tea."

They sat down to drink tea. Zhou Ming said: "I am sorry to have kept you waiting so long." Mei Ling said with a smile: "It is not late, not late at all. You came, and that on its own is enough."

周zhōu明míng心xīn里lǐ明míng白bái了liǎo一yī件jiàn事shì。有yǒu的de约yuē定dìng，不bú是shì不bù重zhòng要yào，是shì我wǒ们men太tài忙máng，忘wàng了liǎo去qù记jì住zhù。只zhǐ要yào你nǐ还hái来lái，就jiù好hǎo。

Zhou Ming understood something in his heart. Some promises are not unimportant; it is that we are too busy and forget to hold on to them. As long as you still come, it is all right.
