出色 (chū sè) is high praise for how something was done. It attaches to work, performances, results and the people behind them, and it always implies a comparison: this one stood out from the others.
Grammatically it behaves as a normal adjective. It takes 很 and 非常 before it, 的 to modify a noun (出色的作品), and 地 to modify a verb (出色地完成). That 地 form is worth drilling, because it is where learners most often reach for the wrong particle.
The trap is using it for things that are merely nice. A pleasant meal or a decent film is 不错 (bú cuò) or 很好; 出色 claims genuine distinction and sounds overblown on small talk. It is also about achievement rather than looks, so a beautiful person is 漂亮, never 出色, despite that 色 sitting in the middle of the word.
