跟谁一起 (gēn shéi yìqǐ) asks who someone was with, built from three pieces: 跟 (gēn), the preposition "with", 谁 (shéi), "who", and 一起 (yìqǐ), "together". Read in order it is literally "with whom together", the standard way to ask about company on a trip, at a meal or during an activity.
The whole phrase sits before the verb it is questioning, the normal spot for a preposition phrase in Mandarin: 你跟谁一起去的 (nǐ gēn shéi yìqǐ qù de), "who did you go with?", puts 跟谁一起 (gēn shéi yìqǐ) ahead of 去 (qù, "to go"), not tacked onto the end the way English drops "with?" as an afterthought.
谁 (shéi) is also read shuí in more formal or literary Mandarin; both readings are correct and carry the same tone, so a learner will hear either depending on the speaker.
