公分(gōng fēn) - centimetre in Mandarin

公分 (gōng fēn) is the everyday word for "centimetre", built the same way as 公斤 (gōng jīn, "kilogram") and 公里 (gōng lǐ, "kilometre"): the metric marker 公 (gōng) in front of an older unit, here 分 (fēn), "a tenth part".

It is used constantly for height and small measurements: 一百八十公分 (yī bǎi bā shí gōng fēn), "one hundred and eighty centimetres", is a completely normal way to state someone's height. In mainland China you will also hear 厘米 (límǐ) for the same measurement; 公分 (gōng fēn) is the form Taiwan speakers reach for first, though both are understood everywhere.

As a measure word it sits directly after the number, no particle needed: 三十公分 (sān shí gōng fēn), "thirty centimetres".
