看法 is your take on something, the way you see it. The 法 suffix means method or manner and builds a whole family of nouns from verbs: 想法 (an idea, the way you think), 说法 (a way of putting it, a version of events), 做法 (a way of doing it, a recipe). Learn the pattern and each new one is free.
The word it attaches to is 对: 对这件事的看法, 对他的看法. Saying 关于 instead is not wrong but sounds heavier, and 的看法 with no 对 leaves the reader wondering a view of what.
Against 意见 (yìjiàn) the difference is attitude. 看法 is a neutral opinion; 意见 leans towards a criticism or a complaint, so 他对我有意见 means he has a problem with me, not simply that he has thoughts about me. Do not swap them.
