brick
Word origin
From French brique, itself from a Middle Dutch word for a broken-off piece. The brick is named for being a fragment, which is what it looks like next to the stone it replaced.

Examples

.
He carried the bricks one after another to the new house.
.
In the sun the bricks were warm.
One root, -, and no seam. It is not bri- plus a -k-, because Esperanto has no -k- suffix to peel off in the first place. If you find yourself splitting a short borrowed noun into an imaginary root and an imaginary affix, stop and check the affix list first.
The family is regular from there: brika for the adjective, brikfarejo for a brickworks, brikmuro for a brick wall. Building vocabulary sits close by, , , and cemento.
