The suffix -- turns an action or quality into a concrete thing you can touch, so gives , the thing constructed. Keep it apart from o, which is the building work itself, still going on. The same contrast runs through the language: gives o for food and o for eating. Use when you mean a house someone lives in and when the point is simply that it is a structure, whether office, station or warehouse. It is the neutral, slightly official-sounding word, and Esperanto prose leans on it heavily.
