plus the augmentative -- gives you a big door: a castle gate, a carriage entrance, the main way in. Its opposite number is o, a little door or hatch, built with the diminutive --. The pair -- and -- runs right through the language - gives o and , gives and a - and using them is usually better style than piling on adjectives. Note for a doorkeeper and for the threshold you step over.
