Word origin
A compound made inside Esperanto: rozo ('rose', from Latin rosa) plus koloro ('colour', from Latin color) plus the adjective ending. Nothing was borrowed as a unit, which is why the word says rose-coloured rather than pink.

Examples
.
She wore a pink dress to the meeting.
.
The sky turned pink above the sea.
.
He sees the world through rose-tinted glass.
Esperanto has no separate root for pink. It builds the word out of the flower, exactly as English does with rose-coloured, and is the everyday result. The compound is fully transparent, so ĉielblua and orkolora work the same way once you have seen one of them. The figurative sense carries over too: are plans seen through rose-tinted glass.
