Worth knowing because Esperanto grammar keeps bumping into it. Nouns have no grammatical gender at all, so is a fact about the world, not about the word; the marking happens through the affixes -in- for a female counterpart and - for a mixed group. What counts as a good solution here has been argued over for a century, and still is.
