Chez le médecin

Story

Paul est malade. Ce matin, il a très mal à la tête. Il a chaud, puis il a froid. Il ne peut pas dormir. Tout son corps a mal. "Je dois voir un médecin," dit Paul.

Paul is ill. This morning, he has a bad headache. He is hot, then he is cold. He cannot sleep. His whole body aches. "I must see a doctor," says Paul.

Alors, il va à l'hôpital. Il y a une grande salle, avec beaucoup de gens. Paul attend longtemps. Il est inquiet. Il a un peu peur. Il ne sait pas ce qu'il a.

So he goes to the hospital. There is a big room, with many people. Paul waits for ages. He is worried. He is a little afraid. He does not know what is wrong with him.

Enfin, un homme appelle son nom. C'est le docteur, un homme gentil, avec un visage calme. "Bonjour, Paul," dit-il. "Venez avec moi." Paul entre dans une petite salle.

At last, a man calls his name. It is the doctor, a kind man, with a calm face. "Hello, Paul," he says. "Come with me." Paul goes into a small room.

"Qu'est-ce qui ne va pas ?" demande le docteur, doucement. Paul explique. "J'ai mal à la tête. J'ai chaud. Je ne peux pas dormir. Je ne peux pas manger."

"What is wrong?" the doctor asks, gently. Paul explains. "I have a headache. I am hot. I cannot sleep. I cannot eat."

Le docteur écoute bien, sans parler. Puis il regarde les yeux de Paul. Il prend sa main. "Depuis quand êtes-vous malade ?" demande-t-il.

The doctor listens carefully, without saying a word. Then he looks at Paul's eyes. He takes his hand. "Since when have you been ill?" he asks.

"Depuis deux jours," dit Paul. "Je suis très inquiet, docteur. C'est grave ?" Le docteur regarde Paul. "Non," dit-il. "Ce n'est pas grave du tout."

"For two days," says Paul. "I am very worried, doctor. Is it serious?" The doctor looks at Paul. "No," he says. "It is not serious at all."

Paul est heureux. "Vous êtes malade," dit le docteur, "mais c'est une petite chose. Dans deux ou trois jours, vous allez aller mieux."

Paul is happy. "You are ill," says the doctor, "but it is a small thing. In two or three days, you are going to feel better."

"Vous avez besoin de dormir. Vous avez besoin de boire beaucoup d'eau. Restez à la maison. Ne travaillez pas. Mangez un peu." Paul écoute chaque mot. Il comprend.

"You need to sleep. You need to drink a lot of water. Stay at home. Do not work. Eat a little." Paul listens to every word. He understands.

"Merci, docteur," dit Paul. "Je me sens déjà mieux." Le docteur lui donne quelque chose pour la tête. "Prenez ça deux fois par jour, le matin et le soir."

"Thank you, doctor," says Paul. "I already feel better." The doctor gives him something for his head. "Take this twice a day, in the morning and in the evening."

Paul n'a plus peur. Il n'est plus inquiet. Le docteur est gentil. Il a pris son temps. Il a bien écouté. Paul sort de l'hôpital.

Paul is no longer afraid. He is no longer worried. The doctor is kind. He took his time. He listened well. Paul leaves the hospital.

Dehors, il fait un peu froid, mais Paul se sent mieux. Il pense au docteur, à ses mots calmes. "Dans deux ou trois jours, je vais aller bien."

Outside, it is a little cold, but Paul feels better. He thinks about the doctor, about his calm words. "In two or three days, I will be fine."

Il rentre à la maison, doucement. Il va boire de l'eau. Il va dormir. Et bientôt, il ne sera plus malade.

He goes home, slowly. He is going to drink water. He is going to sleep. And soon, he will no longer be ill.
