Caro, carnis is feminine, third declension, and the nominative hides the stem: everything after it is carn-, so carnis, carnem, carne, carnes, carnium. Classical Latin uses it for meat on the table and flesh on the bone, nothing more.
The ecclesiastical corpus loads it. "Verbum caro factum est" is the Incarnation in four words, and from there caro becomes the standard opposite of spiritus: the body with its appetites, weak rather than wicked. Read a medieval text expecting butchery and you will misread half of it. The family is large and mostly obvious in English: carnal, carnivore, carnage, incarnation, and, at a distance, carnival. Do not confuse it with carus, "dear", which is a different word entirely.
