Depositio, depositionis is third declension feminine, formed from the supine stem of depono in the standard way: deponere, depositum, depositio. Every noun of this shape is feminine and takes -ionem in the accusative.
The sense is the literal one, a laying down, and the specialisms follow from it. In canon law a depositio is removal from clerical office, a step short of full degradation. In hagiography and church calendars the depositio of a saint is the burial, and depositio sancti Martini in a martyrology means the day he was laid in the ground, not the day he was sacked. The two senses sit side by side in this corpus, so read the surrounding nouns. Medieval scribes write deposicio and deposicionem, with c for the ti, which is the same word.
