fugio

Fugio, fugere, fugi, fugitum, third conjugation of the -io type, so it inflects like capio: fugio, fugis, fugit, fugimus, fugitis, fugiunt, with the i reappearing in fugiunt and in the participle fugiens.

Three constructions. Intransitive, "flee", usually with ex or ab and the ablative. Transitive, "run away from, avoid", with a plain accusative - fugere laborem is to dodge the work, not to run away from a job site. And impersonal, me fugit, "it escapes me, I do not know", which is idiomatic and common. Watch the pair fugit and fugit: present and perfect differ only in vowel length, written here without macrons, so the surrounding tenses have to tell you.
