Ingens, ingentis, third declension, one termination: a single nominative form covers all three genders, and the neuter parts company only in the accusative and the plural, ingens and ingentia. Ablative singular ingenti, genitive plural ingentium.
It looks like in- plus the participle of gigno, "beget", which would make it "unnatural, monstrous", though the Romans themselves were unsure and the sense had long settled on plain hugeness. It is a word for poets and historians, stronger than magnus and without the moral shudder in immanis. Nothing descends from it into English or the Romance languages; the everyday vocabulary of size went with grandis instead, giving grand, grande and grandeur.
