relinquo

Relinquo, relinquere, reliqui, relictum is third conjugation, and the principal parts show a nasal infix that only the present stem has: linqu- in the present, liqu- in the perfect, lict- in the supine. Get that pattern and the whole family falls out - reliquus, "remaining", reliquiae, "remains, relics", derelictus, "abandoned".

The verb is transitive and takes a plain accusative, but the ablative absolute with its perfect participle is where you will meet it most: relicta urbe, relictis armis. Two traps. It leaves something behind rather than departing from it, so "he left Rome" is Roma discessit or Romam reliquit depending on which you mean. And relictus in church Latin often means abandoned in a stronger, moral sense - the widow, the deserted wife - not merely left in place.
