Singuli, singulae, singula is a distributive numeral, first and second declension, and it lives in the plural. Distributive means "one each" rather than "one": "singulis militibus gladium dedit" is he gave every soldier a sword, not one sword between the lot of them. Latin has a whole set of these, bini for two each, terni for three each, and they are compulsory with nouns that only exist in the plural, so "bina castra" is two camps.
The second use is temporal and very common: singulis diebus, singulis annis, every day, every year. English single, singular and singleton come from it, and so, oddly, does the church's singularity of purpose in medieval devotional prose.
