Making plans

Arranging to meet, and getting out of it politely.

Why these go together

Mandarin puts the time before the verb, always. 我们八点见 is we-eight-o'clock-meet, and getting that order wrong is the commonest structural mistake an English speaker makes in the language.

  • 我们八点见？

    Shall we meet at eight?

    Literally: we eight o'clock meet

  • 你明天做什么？

    What are you doing tomorrow?

  • 今天不行。

    Today does not work.

    Literally: today not okay

  • 很高兴认识你。

    Pleased to meet you.

  • 我迟到了，对不起。

    I am late, sorry.
