Sort r/ChineseLanguage by new and find a question from someone a step behind you: 了, measure words, 不 or 没. Reply with a short answer in Mandarin and one example, then an English line if it helps. Native speakers often add to a learner's answer, which is a free lesson for you too. Type with the Pinyin keyboard built into your computer or phone (Windows, macOS, iOS and Android all ship one), or reply in pinyin.

我以前也有这个问题。“了”不一定是过去的意思，有时候它说的是情况变了，比如“我懂了”。
Wǒ yǐqián yě yǒu zhège wèntí. "Le" bù yídìng shì guòqù de yìsi, yǒu shíhou tā shuō de shì qíngkuàng biàn le, bǐrú "wǒ dǒng le".
I used to have this problem too. 了 does not always mean the past; sometimes it says that the situation has changed, as in 'I get it now'.
