住 or 呆?

One is where you live. The other is where you happen to be for now.

The rule

住 (zhu4) is to LIVE somewhere, as a residence. 呆 (dai1) is to STAY somewhere temporarily. 我住在北京 says Beijing is home; 我在北京呆了三天 says you were there for three days.
