As a result complement attached to other verbs it means to become or into (变成 biàn chéng, to transform into; 做成 zuò chéng, to make into; 说成 shuō chéng, to describe as). It also appears in compounds: 成功 (chénggōng, to succeed), 成为 (chéngwéi, to become), 完成 (wánchéng, to complete).
