打扫 (dǎsǎo) is the everyday verb for tidying and cleaning a room, from sweeping the floor to wiping the surfaces. It takes the place you clean as its object: 打扫房间 (clean the room), 打扫教室 (clean the classroom). Chinese schools often have pupils 打扫 their own classroom, which surprises many visiting teachers.
