多次 (duō cì) means many times or repeatedly. It behaves as a single adverb rather than as a loose number phrase, and it goes in front of the verb: 我多次告诉他, I told him many times. It very often pairs with 过 to mark accumulated past experience.

It belongs to a slightly formal register, at home in news reports, official statements and written complaints. Everyday speech usually says 好几次 or puts the count after the verb, as in 我告诉过他好几次. If you want the idea of habitual behaviour rather than a countable tally, 经常 or 常常 is the right word instead.

The trap is word order. English puts many times after the verb, and learners copy that into Chinese, producing sentences such as 我告诉他多次, which sounds wrong. Frequency adverbs like 多次 sit before the verb; the after-the-verb slot belongs to counted phrases such as 三次 and 好几次.
