饭馆 (fànguǎn) is an ordinary, everyday restaurant, from 饭 (fàn, "cooked rice, meal") plus 馆 (guǎn, "establishment, hall"), so literally "meal hall". It leans casual: a small local place for a sit-down meal, closer to "diner" or "eatery" than a formal dining venue.
