Anger will not solve the problem.

愤怒 (fèn nù) is the heavy word for anger: outrage, fury, the anger of a crowd at an injustice. It is written and formal, the register of news reports and speeches.

The everyday word is 生气. If a friend keeps you waiting you are 生气; if a government lies to a country, people are 愤怒. Using 愤怒 over a late bus sounds like you are narrating your own life for television.

For an English speaker the trap is grammatical rather than emotional. 愤怒 is an adjective first, so it needs no verb: 他很愤怒 already says he is furious. To use it as a noun, put something in front of it, as in 心里的愤怒, and to make it an adverb add 地: 愤怒地喊.
