迷路 (mílù) means to lose your way or get lost, combining 迷 (mí), "to be confused, to lose one's bearings", with 路 (lù), "road, way". The same 迷 (mí) appears in 迷惑 (míhuò), "to puzzle, to confuse", which gives a sense of the disorientation the character carries.
It is a verb-object compound, so aspect markers slot in the middle: 迷了路 (mí le lù), "got lost", is just as correct as the unbroken 迷路了 (mílù le), and both mean the same thing.
Note that 迷路 (mílù) describes losing your physical way, not losing an object. "I lost my passport" is not 迷路 (mílù) but 丢了 (diū le), "lost, mislaid"; keep the two apart, since English "lost" covers both senses but Mandarin does not.
