某种 (mǒuzhǒng) marks a category the speaker either cannot name or would rather not: some kind of, a certain type of. It goes straight in front of the noun with no measure word after it, because 种 is already the measure word.
The set phrase worth learning whole is 从某种意义上说 (cóng mǒuzhǒng yìyì shàng shuō, in a certain sense), a standard hedge in argument and writing.
Both syllables are third tone, so in speech the first shifts up to a rising tone: it comes out sounding like móu zhǒng. Write it with two third tones, say it with a rise on the first.
