赢 (yíng) means to win or beat an opponent or game. It is the standard verb for winning competitions, arguments, or bets (赢比赛, win a match; 赢得信任, win trust). Its antonym is 输 (shū, to lose). The traditional character 贏 has 17 strokes and is notoriously complex to write. 赢家 (yíng jiā) means winner and 输赢 (shū yíng) means win or lose, often used to mean the outcome of a contest.
