Spanish · Chapter 11 · Lesson 10 · Common mistake

llevar or traer?

Which one you use depends on where you are standing.

The rule

The verb depends on where the SPEAKER is. traer is to bring something TOWARDS where you are. llevar is to take it AWAY from here to somewhere else. English blurs this constantly; Spanish does not.
