The trap for English speakers is the preposition we cannot help adding. is transitive, so it takes a direct object: , never . The bare imperative ! is the standard shout for look out. From the root you get atento for attention, atenta for attentive, and i for the careless opposite, which is exactly the word for ignoring a warning you were given.
