Translation
advantage
Word origin
From French avantage, built on avant ('in front'), which goes back to Latin ab ante ('from before'). An advantage is still a matter of being out in front.

Examples
, .
The one who knows the language has a great advantage.
.
The new method gives a clear advantage.
?
Do you see any advantage in that plan?
Mind the hat. The ĝ here is the French -age ending arriving as -aĝo, and it is not the Esperanto suffix --, which has a different letter and would make avantaĵo, a nonsense word. The opposite is regular: o, a disadvantage.
