is intransitive, which catches people out constantly. You cannot efiki something; the thing you affect goes after or , so . If you want a direct object, the verb you want is or . The family is unusually useful: efiko an effect, efika effective, o efficiency, senefika useless. And do not confuse it with , which means actual or real rather than working - kaŭzo is the real cause, efika o is the one that does the job.
