Word origin
From German Faden, 'thread', from a Germanic root meaning the span of a man's outstretched arms - the length of yarn you could measure between two hands. English fathom is the same word, kept as a measure rather than as the thing measured.

is the thin one. A ŝnuro is rope or string, thick enough to pull with; a is what you sew with, and what a spider spins. The figurative English uses all carry over: is the thread of the story, and is to lose it.
A false seam. Esperanto has no suffix --, and fad- is not a root, so cannot be parsed. What makes this one worth flagging is that a very similar-looking suffix is real: -end- marks something that must be done (a = to be paid, = to be read). One letter separates a genuine piece of the grammar from a piece of nothing, which is a fair summary of why these pages exist.
Around it: o for a fine thread, senfadena for wireless, and the verb i for drawing something out into threads. The needle you thread is a o and the act is - both built from a different root, so keeps its own company.
