From Latin indignari, 'to be angry at something unworthy', from in- ('not') and dignus ('worthy'). The judgement is baked in: what you are indignant about is what you have decided is beneath what people deserve.

is anger with a reason attached. Koleri is the plain emotion - you can be angry about the weather. says the thing offended your sense of what is right. That is why the Latin has dignus, worthy, sitting inside it: you are not merely cross, you are cross because something was unworthy.

It is intransitive, and it takes its complements like does. The thing that outraged you takes , the person you are outraged at takes : , . Do not write on - the accusative has no job here, and the sentence parses as nothing.

The family earns its keep. Indigno is the feeling itself, indigna describes the look on the face, indigne the way something was said. i is the causative: to outrage somebody. And a is a good compact insult - worthy of indignation, i.e. outrageous.
