The preposition matters. Use X Y when you are setting two things side by side to weigh them, and X Y when you are likening one to the other as a figure of speech. English blurs with and to in the same way, and Esperanto keeps the difference alive. The verb is transitive, so both halves are properly , with -n on the object. The noun is komparo, and nekomparebla means incomparable. For the plain comparative you do not need the verb at all, just ... .
