Word origin
A fossil of the French phrase par coeur, by heart, taken into Esperanto whole as the root parker- rather than translated. The French phrase itself is a straight loan of Latin's habit of locating memory in the heart.

is different, and so is aliflanke: it is
listed in dictionaries as a word, because there is no sitting behind
it doing the real work. The root is parker- and the -e is simply the ending
that makes an adverb of it.
Where it came from is the whole story. French says coeur for by heart,
and Esperanto swallowed the phrase in one gulp: plus coeur became
parker-, a single indivisible root. So a French speaker can hear the heart
inside the word and an Esperanto speaker cannot, because
koro is not in there as a piece of grammar. This is the
same gift, and the same trap, as procento, where
the Latin per centum is genuinely visible in the word and genuinely not
Esperanto morphology. Real history, false grammar.
The family is small and useful. is to memorise something, to
learn it by heart: . is the memorising
itself, the thing language teachers argue about. There is no , so do
not build one; the root only comes out as the adverb and its -- verb. And
the plain alternative is always available: memore or simply
memori.
